Nice Customer Service
A while back I posted about an online CD service I subscribed to, yourmusic.com . You give them your credit card number and build up a queue of CD's. They bill you $5.99 a month (whether anything is in your queue or not)and send the next CD in line, no postage, cancel anytime, blah blah. The selection is not that great, but there is enough there to keep me busy for awhile.
This month I eagerly awaited Emmylou Harris' Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town. Much to my chagrin, when I opened the package I was greeted with The Source Hip-Hop Music Awards 2001. It was like someone sat down and tried to think of the exact oppposite of what I ordered. It contains songs by such mysterious tunesmiths as: Ludacris (sp?), Xzibit, and a gentleman who goes by the name Funkmaster Flex.
At that point their web site went down for three days.
I finally got online with them, and all I found was a thing that said "Email us if you get an incorrect or damaged selection." So I emailed them and got the automated response and figured nothing would happen. But lo and behold, today I got an email, signed with a person's name, apologizing for the error and telling me they were sending a postpaid label to mail it back with and that they were shipping the correct CD.
I checked my account and the Emmylou CD is ready to ship, I don't know if they are going to wait until they get the other one back. I was pretty impressed with the quick response and what appears to be good service. I like to try and point out things like that when they happen. Again, that is yourmusic.com. Go there and browse around and see if you can find enough stuff to keep you happy for $5.99 a month.
So far I have gotten from them:
Emmylou Harris: Blue Kentucky Girl
Elvis Costello: The Delivery Man
Lucinda Williams: Lucinda Williams
Johnny Cash: The Sun Years
In my Music Queue sits:
Talking Heads: Little Creatures
David Bowie: Hunky Dory
But the way my buying habits seem to be going, I might bump one of those and end up putting some country album first.
