Nicotine Free! (for now)

I haven't had a cigarette since Monday, February 14. I quit cold turkey when I had my surgery. One of the things that made me try to quit again, was I went to a new doctor and he asked me how long I had smoked. I had not done the math for a long time, and was astonished to hear "Twenty-five years" come out of my mouth.

I found this great little Firefox extension called Quitomozilla that after you enter in your info (how much you smoke, etc.), it keeps track of how many cigarettes you would have smoked and how much money you would have spent. A little window pops up when you reach certain milestones. I'm at work now, and don't have access to it, but I remember passing $100 saved a couple days ago at least.

Speaking of Saving Money...

I think I found something good to do with all that money I'm saving. A web site/record club : www.yourmusic.com

It is run by the same yahoos that do some of those 12 for $1 CD clubs. With this thing, all their single CD's are $5.99. You build a queue of discs you want, and every month they bill your credit card $5.99 and send you the next CD on your list. (free shipping, cancel anytime). The only hitch seems to be they bill you every month whether or not their is something in your queue. Other possible drawback is they only have about 14,000 albums, and probably don't have all the hip, indie-label type stuff. But I've got enough backlog of Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, and Johnny Cash (gotta give the Drive By Truckers a chance too) to keep me busy for awhile.

I'd taken the cure and had just gotten through...
