On November 2, 2004 My Life Changed

No, I'm not talking about the stupid election.

I've been very happily living for the last year and a half with the basic basic $12 a month cable package: Networks, PBS, C-Span, and a couple Spanish stations. When I channel surfed with the channel up and down keys, that was all I got. Its been OK, I've hardly watched TV or missed it. When people at work talk about new commercials or something, I have no idea what they are talking about.

Last night I was looking around for election coverage and realized if I enter the channel numbers directly I get the next tier of channels: History Channel, Comedy Central, etc. Joy of joys! I could watch John Stewart's election coverage!

Of course I had to pay a visit to my old friend the History Channel and they were showing a documentary on building the Hoover Dam, some things never change. I've commented to be people several times in the last year that I'm glad I don't have more channels, because I can watch some TV. Confederate monument article? What is this Confederate monument article you speak of? I write no such thing.

I don't think that's gonna happen. I haven't been a slave to the idiot box for a year and a half and I'm not going to start now. Except for my John Stewart of course.
