Production Begins
I actually started writing an article about Confederate Monuments this weekend. After a few false starts, I got in the groove on Friday night and think I've turned out a pretty decent three page intro. In those three pages, I've managed to work in some cheesy alliteration, jammed a bibliographic essay into a footnote, and used the word "denizen," so I'm off to a good start.
Earlier in the week, I had cleared off a large table next to my desk. As I looked around me Sunday morning, it was stacked with open books, xeroxes, and I had my CMS balanced on one knee, and a copy of Ghosts of the Confederacy on the other. It felt good, like I was in school again.
No more reports on this project until its done, with things like this its better to do than talk about it. Even if the article gets rejected, I'll have written it, which is better than 90% of the people I work with.
