Odds and Sods

Here is a nice little Confederate Monuments web page that does not look like it was done by a white supremacist.

We were informed today we can not let people look at plans or blueprints for public buildings due to a recent change in the public records law. Here is a quote from it: Public records, as defined in G.S. 132-1, shall not include information containing specific details of public security plans and arrangements or the detailed plans and drawings of public buildings and infrastructure facilities.

We have some 1840's architect's plans of the State Capitol building which are actually quite popular, I've had to pull them for people a couple times. That building is supposedly a great example of some type of architecture and people into such things come from all over to see it. Well, we can't show you the old blueprints anymore. Like someone would not blow up a building because they couldn't get the blueprints. I feel so much safer.

Oh, by the way, there is no provision in the law for any way to get access to these records.

Here is the text of the Democrat's response to the President's weekly radio address of May 1. It is one soldier's view of what is happening on the ground in Iraq.

I deal with a lot of old wills at my job. Usually they start out with something like "In the name of God, Amen, I blah blah of blah blah County, being of sound mind and feeble body blah blah thanks to God blah blah." I dealt with one today from 1759 that had something different in the beginnning. I am a nerd, yes, I am posting it. I just love this old language, it sounds so authoratitive and doom-laden. I love the paper these things are written on, and the ink they wrote with. I love my job.

"In the Name of God Amen. I James Innes of Cape Fear in North Carolina in America Co. [commander] of the regement of said Province raised for His Majestys immediate Service and Commander in Chief of the Expedition to the Ohio against the French and there Indians who have most unjustly Invaided & fortified themselves on his Majestys Lands. Being now heading to Enter upon Action & of Sound Minde, Memory, and understanding do make this my last Will & Testament . . . "

I want my will to start out like that.
