Job Interview Shoulda's

A standard job requirement found in almost every job description in the archives world is "ability to lift boxes weighing 50 pounds." They asked that question in the interview I had a couple weeks ago and I said yes. If I get another interview with them and they ask me that, I'll say: "If I get this job, the only thing I plan on lifting is a hefty paycheck!"

Almost every question that dealt with a hypothetical work situation, they started out by saying "Pretend you are four weeks behind on your correspondence and someone asks you to....". Of course, I answered with all kinds of blather about being flexible and not saying things like "That's not in my job description, etc." They seemed to like my answers. Next time though, I'll say "If I had this job, I would surely not be four weeks behind with anything."

Good thing I don't think real fast, otherwise one of those might have actually popped out during the interview.

Propoganda and/or Art?

I guess by now most of you heard that Leni Riefenstahl died. In kind of a weird, back-handed compliment sort of way, her films would not have been controversial if they weren't so good. If they'd been standard, boiler-plate, industrial type documentaries, they'd be of interest only to scholars or editors looking for footage for The Hitler History Channel. Whether in the service of evil or not, she did create some art. To see one person's ideas on how influential she was, take a look here.
