All Kinds of Job Stuff
If the following seems kinda confusing, it is. I have a whole slew of job applications at the archives and different branches of the department of history downtown. I had a job interview a couple weeks ago for one really good job there, haven't heard anything either way on that. A couple weeks ago I put in an application for a crappy job, and today I put in an application for a really crappy job. I was downtown today doing some research for the railroad company and ran into a bunch of people. I had put in another application a couple weeks for a really really good job and found out I didn't make it through human resources to the people who will be interviewing. The lady who told me about this said they called up HR and kvetched about me not making the cut but of course that did no good. I appreciated the effort and told her so. I also ran into another lady who had told me months ago she was going to have really, really, really good position vacant. She told me today it will probably get advertised next week after being vacant for about four months. This one is a job I think I'd love, even more so than the really, really good job where I didn't make the cut. This lady's been real good about keeping me posted on the status of the position, so that makes me feel good, but there's always HR to get through. I also found out there will probably be another sorta crappy job opening up. And of course, if any internal candidates get any of the really really good jobs, there'll be some more crap jobs open.
It was kind of nice being down there today, getting paid to do research and getting the scoop on everything from all these different folks. I've really gotten to know a lot of people down there and they seem to like me, which is pretty good for an introverted bastard like myself.
