What? No More "Farm Lovin' Grannies" at Work?
I see the United States Supreme Court has ruled against the American Library Association in the internet porn filtering case.
That reminded me of a committee I was on once when I worked at the public library. The library director wanted some staff members to evaluate some different internet filters and track how they did or did not work. This was about 3 years ago when all this "libraries might have to use filters" stuff started and I guess the director wanted to be ready.
The committee wasn't that big of a deal, we divided the work up somehow, everybody did their bit, and the person who had taken a statistics class sometime in the past summarized the results. That committee assignment will go down in history though, as the first, and probably the last time, I actually got paid to look at online porn at work.
Quote of the Day:
A beautiful vacuum filled with wealthy monogamists, all powerful and members of the best families all drinking themselves to death.
--- Ernest Hemingway, quote from I don't know what, damn internet, gotta get my books unpacked.
