Reason to Move #3572: or, The Toilet That Would Not Die

I flushed my toilet about 1 AM this morning and it would not stop flushing. They handed out flyers a couple weeks ago telling us how to deal with this problem, but of course I don't know where mine is because everything is packed up, I probably threw it out.

I went and checked the door of an apartment I knew belonged to a guy who moved out about two weeks ago. Often the flyers pile up on the doors of empty apartments and hoped I might find one there. No luck, but as I passed by another apartment I saw the lights on and heard music so I knocked to see if that person had their toilet emergency instructions. I knocked, the guy said "Yes?" and I told him my story. He promptly rattled off something in Chinese. As he was talking, I noticed his toilet emergency flier still clipped to his door. I said, "Don't worry about it, sorry to bother you," grabbed his flier and walked away.

I went through the procedure about 6 times and had no luck. I finally closed the bathroom, turned on the radio to help drown out the noise and went to sleep. This morning I tried it another 4 or 5 times and it finally worked.

Lets see: my next to last night here my neighbor goes crazy and says she'll kill herself (see below), and my last night here my toilet goes beserk. I'm glad I'm moving today, there's no way in hell I'm spending another night here.

They'll Pry It From My Cold, Dead Hands

Moving means no more taxpayer-subsidized cheap cable modem. I won't be able to afford it in my new place. I'm going to try those netzero things plus I'm in front of a PC most of the day at work. This means I might actually write my blog entries in advance and they will be more coherent, or that I will be doing them on the fly at work and they will be more incoherent. Of course, my spiritual life will enlarge so much because I won't have cable TV or constant internet at home my blogs will reach an unparalleled level of sublimity anyways.

My brother is going to be over soon to help with the final move stuff, gotta unhook the cable modem.....no....in the name of all that is holy....please....no.......
