The Wind at My Back
1) Today I found out the final exam for my Constitutional History class is going to be a take home exam. He made the mid-term a take home also (against his will) and I did really well on it. I can't describe how happy his decision about the final makes me. It puts a completely different perspective on the possibilities of what my grade could be in that class, and it makes the fact that the big paper I just finished is a piece of crap a lot easier to absorb.
2) I've been talking with one of my neighbors lately, Romanian Girl. We both smoke, and you can't smoke in your apartments here, so we frequently see each other on the breezeway. Today she said sometimes at night she'll cook a bunch of Romanian food and can never eat it all. She did so last Tuesday and said she thought (in a Natasha-like voice) "Tom is skinny. I will feed him."
I was in class so I missed out. So today she warned me: "I don't plan these things, so some night I'll just knock on your door and say dinner's ready. Is that okay?"
HELL YES. I love to eat food that other people cook and if you want to come surprise me with dinner, then HELL YES. I don't care if you are animal, vegetable, or mineral, if your house is reasonably clean and you wanna cook, I'm there. I'm not even talking / thinking sex or romance like some of you gutter-minds are, I'm just talking / thinking free home-cooked food.
I was ready to slash my wrists yesterday afternoon working on that paper, things look a lot different now. Sometimes life can be damn good.
