Thursday, April 24, 2003 ::: Too Old For an All-Nighter: or, Passing Out on Keyboard...must blog must blog...
In my two years of graduate school I have done my share of goofing off and waiting until the last minute to start assignments. In spite of my wacky schedule, I have for the most part kept decent hours and have almost always finished major papers the day before the day before they are due so I have one day for decompression and minor tweaking of typos and footnotes.
This time I've pushed it to the limit and I am still awake at 2:30 A.M. on Thursday morning working on an eighteen page paper due on Friday morning. I am about halfway done, I had hoped to be done by late Thursday afternoon and do my final tweaking Thursday night. Now it looks like I may be printing the paper on Friday morning before class. For some reason I hate doing that. If I can pull this off with a passing grade I will be happy.
My paper is on George Mason, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson and the moral dilemma of slavery and the constitutional convention. I've done Mason and Madison and have only cited primary sources. Tomorrow is Jefferson and peppering in some stuff to prove I've looked at the secondary sources.
Reading:
The Republic of Letters: the Correspondence Between Jefferson and Madison, 1776 - 1826. 3 vols.
Debates on the Adoption of the Federal Constitution. 5 vols.
The Papers of Thomas Jefferson. 3 vols out of god knows how many volumes in the set
The Papers of George Mason. 3 vols. (a pretty handsome and well done little set on an underated founding father)
A Necessary Evil? Slavery and the Debate O......
We both have to be out of our minds if we think I'm gonna list all that crap. Its called a bibliography and I need to do one...no, you're not getting a Quote of the Day tonight either.........
