Run, don't walk to your nearest library and look at the 3rd edition of The Dictionary of American History. Right there, on page 46 of volume 7 is my 150-word entry on the city of Raleigh, NC. I'm right between "Rainbow Coalition" and "Raleigh Colonies." In only 150 words it was kind of hard to go from the end of the Civil War to the election of the first black mayor in 1973, but I did it.
